The right frame for your face shape

Finding the right pair of glasses is no easy task, given the number of different styles and silhouettes available (we have over 800 for you to choose from).

But have no fear because blogger, Kate Winney, helps explain how to find the perfect frames based on your face shape. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what yours is, finding it is simple. Take a photo of yourself directly facing the camera and use a piece of tracing paper to outline the edge of your face to work out your face shape. No camera? Then look in the mirror and with an erasable pen (or even some lipstick), trace the outline of your face on the mirror - whatever you do, just make sure you can wipe it off afterwards!

And yes, we know that this sounds a bit odd but it works! We promise!

Square Face Shape

A square face has a broad, deep forehead, wide jaw line and square chin.Your aim is to elongate your face and to soften the jawline. Rounded frames will help you achieve this while also working to lengthen the nose.
We recommend: you can’t go wrong with round and oval style frames that will add length.
Try to avoid: thin, angular and square frames will draw attention to your chin, so try and avoid these.

Heart Face Shape

Heart-shaped faces have a broad forehead and wide cheekbones that narrows down to a small chin.Lots of shapes will suit you, but your goal is to choose frames that will provide contrast and balance to your face, not mimic it.
We recommend: bottom-heavy frames will help add width to the lower face, while rimless frames will let your natural face shape shine.
Try to avoid: styles that are wider at the top, like pilot and semi rimmed glasses, will emphasise the wider part of your face, so try to avoid.

Triangle Face Shape

A base-up triangular facehas a very wide top third and small bottom third. To minimize the width of the top of the face, try frames that are wider at the bottom, very light colors and materials and rimless frame styles.
We recommend: glasses frames that are wider on the bottom, Frames that are all one colour and made of a light material.
Try to avoid: frames that wide at the top, styles with a bold upper and light lower rim.

Oval Face Shape

Oval faces are well balanced and softly rounded, with a forehead slightly wider than the jaw and high cheekbones.
We recommend: the sky’s the limit for you as all styles will complement your face perfectly. Why not try round, rectangle and square shapes.
Try to avoid: frames with a small width can draw attention to a narrow line, so try and stay away from these.

Round Face Shape

A round face is fairly short with a wide forehead, often with full cheeks and a rounded chin.
We recommend: rectangular, square and narrow shapes are your best friends as they’ll give the illusion of a longer face.
Try to avoid: small, round and oversized shapes will make your face appear rounder, so it’s best to steer clear.
